Lighter and Heavier

Christmas has this strange quality of making things both lighter and heavier at the same time. Lighter, because you briefly step out of everyday life. Heavier, because in that stillness, certain things become more visible — things that usually stay in the background.

You think about the year, about decisions, about directions. Not to judge everything, but to place it. Without conclusions, without any claim to completeness. Many things are allowed to remain open.

Perhaps that’s exactly where the value of this time lies: not only in harmony or closeness, but also in a brief moment of distance. A pause that demands nothing and resolves nothing.
